Ronna Neuenschwander has been creating her figurative mixed media sculpture and exhibiting nationally since 1978. Her work can be found in private and public collections, including the Mint Museum of Craft & Design and Smithsonian's Renwick Gallery. Her travels in West Africa and her relationships there have inspired her work since 1983, the same year she received an Oregon Arts Commission Fellowship. Ronna is also the recipient of a Western States Arts Foundation Fellowship and is the 1994 Bonnie Bronson Fellow. In 2004, Neuenschwander and husband Baba Wague Diakite started the non-profit Ko-Falen Cultural Center in Bamako, Mali, which brings people from the US into direct dialogue with Malian artists thru art workshops, music and daily living. Neuenschwander shares her artistic time between Portland, OR and Bamako, Mali.
