 My practice as a visual artist includes fabricated objects, video, drawings and prints, installations and performance. 

Through these varied approaches, I fabricate fictive artifacts, render biomorphic, sexualized schematics and orchestrate transient theatrics for incidental audiences in civic spaces. 

Futility, authority, theatricality and persona enter into my creative explorations as notions to investigate, critique, utilize and exploit. 

Eckard received his BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1988. His work has been exhibited internationally with solo exhibitions at Atelier Dado in (Cetijne Montenegro) and at the Centre International D'Art Contemporain (Pont-Aven, France). A recent 20 year survey exhibition of work, “Deployment” was at the Art Gym, Marylhurst University (Portland, OR) 

Previous solo shows include Kim Foster Galley (New York, NY) Fassbender Gallery (Chicago, IL) Consolidated Works, (Seattle, WA) and Elizabeth Leach Gallery (Portland, OR). Eckard recently received the Regional Arts and Culture Council Individual Artist’s Fellowship (2015). He was also awarded the Bonnie Bronson Fellowship (2010) and was one of the three inaugural recipients of the Hallie Ford Fellowship in Visual Arts (2010). Eckard was an Oregon Biennial Jurors Award recipient (2006) He has performed at PICA’s TBA Festival (Portland, OR) in 2013, 2011, 2006, 2004 and for New Works Northwest at On The Boards (Seattle, WA) in 2005.
